The Pellissippi Campus, the main site of Pellissippi State, is located west of Knoxville in Knox County. The city of Knoxville lies on the Tennessee River, about 40 miles from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Knoxville's population approaches 170,000, with approximately 640,000 people in the metropolitan area. The city supports a wide variety of cultural and sports activities, and is home to the University of Tennessee. Pellissippi State is a fully accredited public two-year college. It offers a challenging total-college experience that prepares students for obtaining gainful employment, transferring to a four-year institution, advancing in their career or simply enhancing their enjoyment of life. Business and Community Services (BCS) extends the resources of the College to the business, industrial, and general communities. Programs range from personal enrichment to advanced technology and industry-specific training.
