Admissions - Other Degree-Seeking Students

Before you apply, complete the questionnaire on the Admissions home page! That will give you the correct application type!

If you are in college for the first time and do not qualify as another student type — if, for example, you are not a veteran or a Tennessee Promise student — then you are an Other Degree-Seeking Student. You have standard Admissions, Financial Aid and Advising requirements. Follow your enrollment checklist to learn more!

  1. Apply to attend Pellissippi State.

As part of the application process, you’ll need to provide proof of U.S. citizenship, your ACT or SAT scores (if applicable), and a copy of your high school transcript, GED or other college transcript. You may be required to provide other documentation as well. Check your myPellissippi account regularly for all requirements.

Application deadlines are listed in the Loading... and in Important Academic Dates.

  1. Check myPellissippi often during the enrollment process.

Within 48 hours of completing your application to Pellissippi State, you will receive an email with information about myPellissippi. myPellissippi is your personal online account with Pellissippi State, and it is where we will send all of your notices about applying for financial aid, paying fees, confirming attendance, registering for classes and even seeing your grades and requesting transcripts.

The first time you log in, you will need to change your password. Your first password is always a capital “P” followed by your student ID number and the “#” sign. This password will only work once. The first time you log in, change your password to something unique and memorable. If you have issues, call HelpDesk at 865-694-6537.

  1. File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at Be sure to list Pellissippi State as your chosen college.

Many types of financial aid are first-come, first-served. The FAFSA opens in October each year. If you intend to enter college in fall 2018, you would fill out the FAFSA as soon as possible after it opens October 1, 2017.

Just a note: when you file the FAFSA, you may be randomly selected by the Department of Education for verification. If this happens, the DOE requires Pellissippi State to verify the financial information you submitted. After you submit the FAFSA, if you’ve been selected for verification, Pellissippi State will notify you through your myPellissippi account. If you are selected for verification, submit any additional paperwork as soon as you can so that your financial aid is not delayed.

  1. Apply for Pellissippi State scholarships.

One scholarship form will enter you into the pool for all Pellissippi State scholarships. You’ll be considered for any scholarship for which you qualify. You must complete the FAFSA to be considered for Pellissippi State scholarships.

To be matched with a scholarship, complete the Scholarship Application which includes a Scholarship Recommendation Letter.

  1. Take any entrance tests you may need.

If you have valid ACT or SAT scores, or if you’ve already passed college-level English and mathematics courses at an approved higher education institution, you may not need to take entrance testing. If you've been out of school for more than three years, you are strongly encouraged to take an entrance test.

  1. RSVP to attend a New Student Orientation at Pellissippi State.

Select any general New Student Orientation session.

  1. Confirm your schedule and pay tuition & fees.

Once all of previous steps are completed — including registering for classes — all students must confirm their schedule and pay tuition and fees. After any financial aid awards you receive appear on the confirmation screen in myPellissippi, you must confirm your schedule and pay any remaining tuition and fees. If your financial aid covers the cost of tuition and fees, you still must confirm your schedule. Students who do not confirm their schedules run the risk of having their schedules deleted.

If you were selected for FAFSA verification and are not able to complete verification by the Schedule Confirmation and Fee Deadline, you will need to set up a payment arrangement with the Cashier or risk being dropped from class.
