The Pellissippi State Hot Air Balloon Festival is an annual fundraiser for the Pellissippi State Foundation, which raises money that supports programs directly impacting students. (Read "Pellissippi State Balloon Festival: Major Fun and Fundraising")
For the second consecutive year, the festival has been designated by the Southeast Tourism Society as one of the "Top 20 Events in the Southeast." It is the only Knoxville-based event to receive the recognition for the month of October and one of only four Knoxville-based events to earn the honor for fall 2010. The festival joins events from a twelve-state region that are selected for the prestigious designation.
Slated this year for October 1 and 2, the 7th Annual Pellissippi State Hot Air Balloon Festival features live music, entertainment, arts and crafts exhibitors, food vendors and a children's area. Two of the most popular activities are the evening balloon glow and tethered balloon rides.
