Business & Professional—THEORY OF CONSTRAINTS
Theory of Constraint
1 Day Workshop/8 Class Hours, .8 CEU, $245
Participants will gain the ability to identify constraints and exploit them to the extent possible. Identification of constraints allows management to take action to alleviate the constraint in the future. The central idea in the Theory of Constraints is that every process must have at least one constraint and by chasing and exploiting that constraint, management will identify another constraint to exploit. There really is no choice in the matter. Either you manage constraints or they manage you. The constraints will determine the output of the system whether they are acknowledged and managed or not.
Topics to be covered: What is the Theory of Constraints?; Types of Constraints; Five steps of Theory of Constraints; Drum buffer rope; Issues with Theory of Constraints; and Measurements and financial issues.
Instructor: Doug Moses

Constraints Management Overview
4 Class Hours, .4 CEU, $125 (course materials provided)
This workshop introduces participants to the basics of constraints management: the business system and various types of transformation processes, the goal of the business system, definitions of constraints management terms, and the types of constraints.

Critical Chain Project Management
4 Class Hours, .4 CEU, $125 (course materials provided)
This workshop examines the basics of managing a single project using constraints management. The four-step process of scheduling a project using critical chain scheduling is illustrated and compared to traditional project management.

Performance Measures
4 Class Hours, .4 CEU, $125 (course materials provided)
This workshop discusses the problems in using traditional performance measurements. Cost-world measurements of managerial accounting versus the throughput-world measurements of theory of constraints are illustrated through the use of the evaporation cloud technique of TOC thinking processes.

Production Management
4 Class Hours, .4 CEU, $125 (course materials provided)
This workshop introduces the production paradigm of constraints management. Simply games comparing balanced capacity and constraints-based capacity production environments are used to illustrate the impact of statistical fluctuation and dependent events on line throughput.

Supply Chain Management
4 Class Hours, .4 CEU, $125 (course materials provided)
This workshop introduces participants to the basics of managing a supply chain using constraints management. Topics include the process of identifying the constraints (internal and external) of supply chain, supply chain performance, and flow concepts.

Thinking Processes
4 Class Hours, .4 CEU, $125 (course materials provided)
This workshop introduces participants to the theory of constraints thinking processes. These powerful logic tools provide skills to answer the three basic questions facing a manager today-what to change, what to change to, and how to create the change without creating resistance.
