Introduction to Microsoft Windows XP Operating System

The course covers basic aspects of Windows, including managing documents and running programs. This course is appropriate for any individual using Windows on either a business or personal level. Items covered include: Orientation to personal computers and the concept of networking; the Windows environment; using the mouse, the Start button and other Windows components; using the Desktop, My Computer, the network neighborhood and shortcuts; running programs, using help, WordPad, and Paint basics; cutting, copying, and pasting; creating folders; sorting, finding and managing documents; and using Windows Explorer.

Computers for ESL Students

This course takes students with at least a low-intermediate ESL reading proficiency through the basics of effectively using a computer to perform basic tasks. Using a highly visual approach combined with a wealth of individual and paired exercises, this course introduces participants to beginning level skills including common computer-oriented vocabulary, basic hardware knowledge, use of a keyboard/mouse, basic tasks such as creating/opening/editing,/printing word processor documents, experience searching the Web and sending/receiving email.
