Pellissippi State Announcements: Students invited to ‘FAFSA Fright Night’ at Strawberry Plains Campus

Pellissippi State Community College invites current and prospective students and their families to attend FAFSA Fright Night, 5-8 p.m. Oct. 27, at the college’s Strawberry Plains Campus, 7201 Strawberry Plains Pike. The event will offer help to students who are filling out their Free Application for Federal Student Aid, application to Pellissippi State and/or Tennessee Promise paperwork. The FAFSA opened early this year, and students are encouraged to complete it as soon as possible. FAFSA Fright Night also will include tours of the Nursing Center and Megalab, a costume contest and a drawing for a scholarship from the Pellissippi State Foundation. Pellissippi State holds annual book sale to benefit student scholarships

All types of books — from fiction to non-fiction and children’s books to cookbooks — will be available at this year’s Student Scholarship Book Sale at Pellissippi State Community College. The sale, which is held annually, will take place at all five of the college’s campuses during March and April. Proceeds from the sale go directly toward student scholarships.

Bargain hunters may also find collectible magazines like National Geographic, as well as a nice selection of DVDs and CDs. Pellissippi State faculty, staff and students, as well as community members, contributed items for the sale.

  • Blount County Campus — March 28-29, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. and March 30, 8 a.m.-noon, second floor main corridor
  • Division Street Campus — March 28-29, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. and March 30, 8:30 a.m.-noon, room 118
  • Hardin Valley Campus — April 4-5, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. and April 6, 8 a.m.-noon, College Center in the Goins Administration Building
  • Magnolia Avenue Campus — April 11-12, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., front lobby
  • Strawberry Plains Campus — April 18-19, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., campus lobby

Pellissippi State hosts workshops for high school students with disabilities

Pellissippi State Community College invites local high school students with disabilities and their parents to attend college career readiness workshops.

The one-hour workshop will inform students and parents about how to take and request accommodations for the ACT test, including when to take the ACT, general testing tips, and the types of accommodations you can request. The workshop is totally free, but participants must register. Reserve a spot at www.pstcc.edu/upep.

The workshops are provided by the college’s Universal Pathways to Employment Project. Dates, times and locations:
