Enhance your career and wealth with non-credit courses at Pellissippi State

Whether you’re interested in advancing your current career, deriving more satisfaction from your work or aligning your finances with your retirement plans, Pellissippi State Community College offers a selection of non-credit courses geared toward career and wealth enhancement.

Courses range in price from $35 to $59 and cover such topics as wealth management, retirement planning, workplace confidence and public speaking. Unless otherwise noted, all classes meet at the Pellissippi Campus, 10915 Hardin Valley Road.

Choose from the following courses for spring:

• “Introduction to Wealth Management”
  March 3-17 or May 5-19 (Thursdays), 6-8 p.m.; $50

  Acquire the tools to manage your wealth. Instructor Bill Timm, M.B.A., is an accredited asset management specialist and a registered investment advisor. Topics range from the basic principles of investing to complex absolute return strategies involving options. Students will learn about stocks, bonds, mutual funds, IRA/401K distributions and more.

• “How to Thrive Financially in Retirement”
  March 22-29 (Tuesdays), 6:30-8:30 p.m.; $59; Pellissippi Campus
  April 5-12 (Tuesdays), 6:30-8:30 p.m.; $59; Blount County Campus,
  2731 W. Lamar Alexander Pkwy.

  Targeted to those in or approaching retirement, this two-session course will help attendees ensure that their money properly serves their retirement goals. Participants will leave with techniques for reducing taxes during retirement, planning for health-care costs and drawing income from life savings.

• “Utilizing Your Uniqueness in the Workplace”
  April 9, 9-noon; $59

  Participants will use a self-examination process to identify the unique qualities they bring to the workplace. They will then learn to prioritize decisions based on their personal values and conclude with a plan to promote the personal advantages they bring to the work setting.

• “Conquering Your Public Speaking Fears”
  April 12, 6-8 p.m.; $35

  Discover and practice public speaking skills in order to improve confidence, communication style and leadership skills for use at work and in the community. Attendees learn techniques that will empower them to overcome fears related to public speaking.
