Winter storms this year caused dramatic drops in blood and platelet donations in our region and beyond, according to the American Red Cross.
Donors can help replenish the supply by participating in the Medic Blood Drive at Pellissippi State Community College’s Blount County Campus 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on April 4.
At the campus’ Spring Fling Blood Drive, donor can give blood at the Blood Mobile, which will be parked near the front of the building. The Blount County Campus is located at 2731 W. Lamar Alexander Pkwy. (U.S. 321).
Anyone who is in good health, is a minimum of 17 years of age and weighs at least 110 pounds can donate blood. Sixteen-year-olds may give blood if they weigh at least 120 pounds and have a signed parental consent form.
