Pellissippi State Community College alumni will score a home run on May 20! That’s the date when alumni and friends are invited to get together to attend a Tennessee Smokies home baseball game.
“It will be a family fun Friday with fireworks at the field,” said Brooke Cranfield Pannell, coordinator of Alumni Relations and annual giving at Pellissippi State. “We want former and current students, faculty, staff and friends of the college to be a part of this special evening.”
For $10, baseball fans get a ticket to the game and a round-trip bus ride from the Pellissippi Campus, 10915 Hardin Valley Road, to the Smokies home game in Kodak. The bus leaves the campus at 5 p.m. and returns after the game and fireworks. For those who would like to join the group but prefer to provide their own transportation, the ticket price is $7. However, there is an additional fee to park at the stadium.
“We hope to have a good crowd join us at the Smokies game,” said Pannell. “It’s a great opportunity for alums to reconnect.”
The Smokies take on the Mobile Bay Bears at 7:15 p.m. Alums who sign up for the event will have reserved seating. A spectacular fireworks display wraps up the night at the ball field.
The Pellissippi State Alumni Association’s purpose is to encourage former students to stay connected to the college. After the successful turnout of the 2010 Alumni Homecoming event at the Pellissippi State Hot Air Balloon Festival, the association’s board decided to continue to provide alumni with family-friendly event opportunities.
The board also launched an Alumni Scholarship campaign in November 2010, which will provide scholarship money for a child and or spouse of an alumnus.
