Pellissippi State garners public relations awards

The Marketing and Communications Office of Pellissippi State Community College has been recognized with multiple awards for excellence in public relations. In the recent annual competition hosted by the Tennessee College Public Relations Association, Pellissippi State was honored with 12 awards.

“Our entire team works so well together,” said Julia Wood, director of Marketing and Communications. “To be recognized by professional communications peers is an honor. The synergies we have here are reflected in the end results.”

The Marketing and Communications Office also was recognized earlier this year with two Awards of Excellence from the Public Relations Society of America. Competition in the PRSA awards is open to area professionals in the field of communications, including advertising firms, public relations businesses and government entities.

Pellissippi State’s winning entries were in the Collaterals: Posters and Websites: Advocacy/Fundraising divisions, and the subject matter of each was the 2010 Pellissippi State Hot Air Balloon Festival. The Award of Excellence is the highest recognition bestowed by PRSA.

Pellissippi State’s Marketing and Communications Office works to keep the community and Pellissippi State students, faculty, and staff aware of events, news and opportunities at each of the campus locations. Last year, the Marketing and Communications Office received a total of eight awards from TCPRA and three from PRSA.
