An all-time-record number of degrees and certificates were awarded to students at Pellissippi State Community College’s Commencement ceremony in May.
Pellissippi State realized a 21 percent increase in degrees and a 100 percent increase in certificates over last year. This year Pellissippi State awarded 962 associate’s degrees and 553 certificates.
The college conferred the highest number of certificates in Pre-business transfer. Certificate programs in video production technology, information technology, commercial and industrial electricity, alternate energy and processes, culinary arts and Web page authoring also proved popular with students.
The increase in numbers is a result of changes made by Pellissippi State to meet the goals of the Complete College Tennessee Act.
