Last year 950 people who needed to put high school behind them got free help from Pellissippi State Community College.
Pellissippi State’s Adult Education program offers classes to help prepare for the GED and earn a high school diploma.
“If you live in the Knoxville area, earning your GED can be easy,” said Joan Newman, director, Academic Testing and Adult Education at the college. “Many people earn a GED in only two or three weeks. If you need to finish high school, do it now. Open the doors to a brighter future.”
Classes are offered at a number of locations in the Knoxville area, both during the day and in the evening.
Anyone 17 or older is eligible for the classes, which use small-group instruction, computer tutorials, videotapes and printed materials to help participants achieve their personal, educational and career goals. Individualized instruction is available at several of the locations as well.
