Thanks to a $10,000 donation from AT&T, students enrolled in teacher education at Pellissippi State Community College will have access to scholarships designed to assist them in completing their degree.
The college has earmarked the gift, presented earlier this month at a ceremony on the Pellissippi Campus, for scholarships to students pursuing the Associate of Science in Teaching.
“This generous donation to Pellissippi State will make a significant impact on the lives of our students,” said Anthony Wise, president of Pellissippi State. “We’re very grateful to AT&T for this gift—it will help our students succeed both in the classroom and in their careers.”
“We are pleased to help these students at Pellissippi State,” said Alan Hill, regional director for AT&T. “It is our goal to ensure that students are fully prepared to enter the workforce and that they can find good jobs right here in Tennessee when they graduate.”
The $10,000 donation to Pellissippi State is part of a $130,000 gift by AT&T to the Tennessee Board of Regents, the two-year school’s governing body. Each of Tennessee’s 13 community colleges received $10,000 to award scholarships to those who enroll in programs that target non-traditional and underserved students.
