Learn social media marketing at Pellissippi State from corporate communications professional

The role of social media in marketing is evolving so rapidly that even savvy businesspeople can feel frustrated and overwhelmed in using the tool. A four-part, hands-on workshop at Pellissippi State Community College will assist attendees in developing a sound social media marketing strategy.

“Social Media Marketing Workshop for Business,” a non-credit course led by Mark Schaefer, begins on Nov. 15. Class size is limited to provide ample opportunity for discussion and problem-solving.

Schaefer brings nearly three decades of experience in global corporate communications, sales and marketing to the Pellissippi State classroom. The award-winning author and educator has advanced degrees in business and applied behavioral sciences. In addition to teaching non-credit classes, Schaefer is the executive director of Schaefer Marketing Solutions. His client list includes Coca-Cola, Anheuser-Busch and Scripps.

The focus of the workshop is the effective use of Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube as marketing platforms. Students only need a basic understanding of the internet and web navigation to benefit from the class.

“Social Media Marketing Workshop for Business” is offered at the Pellissippi Campus, 10915 Hardin Valley Road, in Room 129 of the Alexander Building. Classes are on Tuesdays, Nov. 15-Dec. 6, 8:30-10:30 a.m.

The workshop fee is $189. A total of .8 CEUs (continuing education units) are available to those who complete the course.
