Pellissippi State’s Testing Center earns national recognition

The Testing Center at Pellissippi State Community College was awarded Test Center Certification recently by the National College Testing Association.

Criteria for certification are rigorous and are based on the NCTA Professional Standards and Guidelines. The standards were developed to guide postsecondary centers in the delivery of quality testing programs.

The Pellissippi State Testing Center is one of the first in the U.S. and Canada to have completed the intensive certification process. Certification will be in place for five years and can be renewed by demonstrating continued compliance to national standards.

NCTA officials congratulated Director Joan Newman and the entire Pellissippi State Testing Center staff for “maintaining high test administration standards and for providing excellent service to a wide variety of students and community members in the performance of their duties.”

The Testing Center offers a comprehensive testing program to augment and enhance academic programs. Students can take a test to gain college credits, obtain certification or licensing, determine readiness for college-level classes, and more. Testing Centers are located at each campus.

The NCTA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion of professionalism and high-quality service in the administration of testing programs.
