Sunday Cades Cove performance by Pellissippi State dulcimer students

It’s the perfect picture of the fall season in East Tennessee: Cades Cove visitors gathered to enjoy a performance by musicians playing Appalachian dulcimers.

Students from Pellissippi State Community College’s “Playout Preparation for Appalachian Dulcimers” non-credit class will perform this Sunday, Oct. 30, at the Cable Mill in Cades Cove. The students, who have recently completed the last in a series of four dulcimer classes, will share traditional mountain music with Cades Cove visitors.

“Playout Preparation for Appalachian Dulcimers” is open only to students who have completed “Intermediate Appalachian Dulcimers III.” Musicians from the advanced “Playout” class will perform an assortment of fiddle tunes, waltzes and hymns.

The free concert is 1-2 p.m.

Cable Mill is located near the midpoint of the 11-mile, one-way Cades Cove Loop Road in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

For information, call the college at (865) 694-6400.
