Dispose of old electronics safely and for free at a Nov. 8 recycling event at Pellissippi State Community College’s Blount County Campus.
The recycling opportunity is 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday. The campus is located at 2731 W. Lamar Alexander Pkwy (U.S. 321).
Scott Recycling, a Knoxville-based company, will be on campus to accept such items as small appliances, TVs, computers, printers, telephones, copiers and fax machines.
Collecting and recycling electronic items can help reduce the amount of e-waste that goes into landfills every year. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency estimates that in 2009 alone, discarded TVs, computers, peripherals (including printers, scanners and fax machines), keyboards and cell phones totaled 2.37 million tons.
