If you’ll be a new student for the spring semester at Pellissippi State Community College, sign up now for one of the college’s New Student Orientation sessions. Spring classes begin Jan. 12.
Orientation is required of all first-time degree-seeking freshmen. It is recommended for transfer students and those who have been out of school for a while.
Attending orientation gives new students the opportunity to meet Pellissippi State’s current students, faculty and staff. It also offers the chance to learn strategies for college success, explore degree and major choices, and find out about campus services and resources such as financial aid.
Pellissippi State encourages parents, spouses and others supportive of the student to attend as well.
New students should reserve their place in an orientation session as soon as possible. The following sessions are available:
- Magnolia Avenue Campus, 1610 E. Magnolia Ave.
Friday, Jan. 6, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.; Monday, Jan. 9, 5:30-8:30 p.m.
- Blount County Campus, 2731 W. Lamar Alexander Pkwy., Friendsville
Monday, Jan. 9, 10-noon; Wednesday, Jan. 11, 5-7 p.m. - Pellissippi Campus, 10915 Hardin Valley Road
Wednesday, Jan. 11, 9-noon, Clayton Performing Arts Center - Division Street Campus, 3435 Division St.
Wednesday, Jan. 11, 9-11 a.m.; same date, 1-3 p.m.
“This year’s orientation theme is ‘Determination, Participation and Graduation,’” said Becky Milam, director of New Student Orientation programs.
“We’re focusing on graduation as an outcome. We know that students are more focused when they get involved. And people need to be determined to set goals and maintain balance while in school.”
