The process of applying for financial aid to attend college is constantly changing. Get the most up-to-date information and take the uncertainty out of the process by attending a free two-hour workshop at Pellissippi State Community College on Sunday, Jan. 29.
Pellissippi State hosts College Goal Sunday to help current and potential students navigate the steps necessary to apply for financial aid for higher education. The FAFSA, or Free Application for Federal Student Aid, is the form required to determine eligibility for financial aid, including grants, loans and scholarships.
Knowing how to complete the FAFSA properly is crucial, and financial aid professionals will be on hand to conduct a moderated session that will lead to submitting a finished application.
Prospective students who are undecided about enrolling in college or who are unsure whether they will need financial aid are encouraged to attend the event. Attending will help ensure that critical FAFSA deadlines have been met if applicants decide they need assistance later in the year.
Completing the FAFSA establishes no obligation to attend college. Participants may wish to bring specific financial documents to the session, though it is not mandatory. Registration is required, however.

College Goal Sunday begins at 2 p.m. on the Pellissippi Campus, 10915 Hardin Valley Road, in the Educational Resources Center, Room 315. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early.
The event is sponsored by the Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation and Tennessee Higher Education Commission. Funding for the program comes from the Lumina Foundation for Education.
