Donate blood at Pellissippi State, possibly win tickets to Graceland

Medic Regional Blood Center is hosting a blood drive at Pellissippi State Community College on Jan. 25, and donors will be entered in a drawing for the chance to win two tickets to Graceland.

The Graceland tickets are part of a special January giveaway from Medic. The gift package, compliments of AAA of East Tennessee, includes a $300 Visa gift card and a $100 gas card. Graceland, the former home of Elvis Presley, is a popular tourist attraction in Memphis.

Medic representatives say there is a need for all blood types, but potential donors must meet two criteria: They must be at least 17 years of age and weigh at least 110 pounds.

Donors should not fast prior to arriving. In fact, Medic suggests that donors eat a meal and drink fluids approximately three hours prior to donating. Participants are asked to provide photo identification and a list of all current medications to Medic personnel at the site.

Event hours are 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. The mobile unit will be parked in the F-1 lot at the Pellissippi Campus, 10915 Hardin Valley Road.

Additional information on the donation process, as well as the Graceland giveaway, can be found at www.medicblood.com.
