Pellissippi State Faculty Senate Book Sale raises nearly $7,600

Thanks to thousands of items from the yearly Faculty Senate Book Sale and their new owners, more students at Pellissippi State Community College stand to benefit from future scholarships.

The 30th annual book sale recently took place at all four Pellissippi State campuses. Collectively the events raised $7,589, the proceeds of which go to the Pellissippi State Foundation. Since its inception, the Faculty Senate Book Sale has raised more than $101,000 for student scholarships.

The Foundation supports students by providing not only scholarships but also new technology and equipment. Funds raised at the book sale are earmarked for the Faculty Senate Scholarship, which provides tuition and fees for full-time students who maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA and meet additional scholarship criteria.

Merchandise at the sale consisted of new and gently used books, CDs, DVDs, videos, vinyl, magazines, calendars, puzzles, and computer games. The book sale always occurs during the spring semester.
