4 Dec 2015 Pellissippi State students raise record amount of canned food for Second Harvest by hnbeck | posted in: Students | 0 Pellissippi State Community College’s Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society club recently collected more than 1,810 pounds of canned goods in the club’s annual Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee canned food drive. The SAACS club broke its previous record of 1,400 pounds of food, and its goal of 1,000 pounds of food. In a friendly competition, the University of Tennessee SAACS club raised 1,485 pounds of food — bringing the grand total of donated canned goods to 3,295 pounds.
