Pellissippi State Community College will host author Jennifer Steil for a reading of her book, “The Ambassador’s Wife,” and a Q-and-A session Tuesday, March 1.

The event begins at 12:30 p.m. in the Clayton Performing Arts Center, 10915 Hardin Valley Road. The community is invited.

Steil, the wife of a real-life European Union ambassador, is the author of “The Ambassador’s Wife,” and “The Woman Who Fell From the Sky.” “The Ambassador’s Wife” earned the Best Novel award in the 2013 William Faulkner-William Wisdom Creative Writing Competition. The book may be adapted into a television miniseries starring Anne Hathaway.

“The Woman Who Fell From the Sky” recounts Steil’s experiences as a newspaper editor in Yemen, including an account of the drama that unfolded after the “Yemen Observer” published incendiary cartoons of the prophet Muhammad.

Steil’s presentation is sponsored by Tennessee Consortium of International Studies. TnCIS, headquartered at Pellissippi State, organizes study abroad opportunities as part of its mission of boosting international experience and culture in higher education across the state.
