The Arts at Pellissippi State will host its first musical performance of the academic year, Vance Thompson and the Marble City 5, at 8 p.m., Sept. 7, in the Clayton Performing Arts Center of Pellissippi State Community College’s Hardin Valley Campus, 10915 Hardin Valley Road. The event is free to attend. The Arts at Pellissippi State is an annual arts series that includes music and theatre performances, cultural celebrations, lectures and fine arts exhibits. Pellissippi State Community College philosophy faculty member David Howell will deliver the first Faculty Lecture Series event of the year, “Evolution is Smarter than You,” 12:45-1:45 p.m., Sept. 14, in the Goins Building Auditorium of Pellissippi State Community College’s Hardin Valley Campus, 10915 Hardin Valley Road. Howell will examine the ways evolution works beyond our immediate understanding, how it benefits the individual … and how it does not.
