Defibrillators installed at each campus

Automated external defibrillators are now available on each campus in the event of an emergency. A defibrillator delivers a therapeutic dose of electrical energy to the heart to help correct a cardiac dysrhythmia. Dysrhythmia is an abnormal heart rhythm and, in certain instances, can be life threatening.

The defibrillators have been placed on all site campuses except Magnolia Avenue near the main offices or near first-floor common areas. The defibrillator at Magnolia Avenue is currently located in Safety and Security, and it will be installed in a cabinet once campus renovations are completed.

At Hardin Valley, look for defibrillators in these first-floor areas:

  • Goins Building, Safety and Security
  • Alexander Building, in the hallway near Room 121
  • McWherter Building, in the hallway near the entrance to rooms 101-115
  • Bagwell Building, near the south stairwell
  • Student Recreation Center, behind the front desk
  • Educational Resources Center, near the Reference desk
  • Facilities, in the hallway near the maintenance shops

The defibrillators at Pellissippi State are programmed to guide users through the proper steps once the equipment is turned on. Defibrillators should only be used in an emergency. Don’t open the case doors to inspect the equipment, because an alarm will sound.

In the event of an emergency, it’s still best to call 911 first, then notify campus Security for assistance.
