Celebrate Diversity Unity Equality Week

This week, Pellissippi Pride will celebrate Diversity Unity Equality Week with a series of events on the Hardin Valley Campus.

Monday, 12-1:30 p.m.

This kick-off event will feature brief remarks by City of Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero.

Tuesday, 10-10:45 a.m.

In this Title IX Workshop session, Patrick Shipwash, executive director of equity and compliance, will go over the basics of Title IX — as well as the little-known or forgotten portions of the law.

Tuesday, 11 a.m.-noon
Goins Building Auditorium
In this Suicide Prevention seminar, learn the Question Persuade Refer (QPR) method to reduce suicidal behaviors and save lives. This event will be streamed live.

Wednesday, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Visit with Pellissippi Pride and Student Life and share what “diversity” means to you.

Wednesday, Noon-1:30 p.m.

In this open panel, we’ll discuss the events of Diversity Unity Equality Week and seek feedback to improve events and make Pellissippi State a more inclusive campus.

Don’t miss assistant professor Heidi Speck’s lecture “Sex Lies and Hermaphrodites,” part of the Faculty Lecture Series, in which she discusses the surprising truths about biological sex.

During the weekly Pellissippi Pride meeting, we’ll participate in a thought experiment regarding a  flipped world. What if being gay was the norm?
