Marketing and Communications garners public relations honors

Marketing and Communications brought home three honors from the recent 39th Annual V Awards ceremony, hosted by the Volunteer Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.

For the 2013 College at a Glance brochure and the 2013 Backstage Pass video, Marketing and Communications received two Award of Quality honors. Additionally, the 2013 The Arts at Pellissippi State booklet earned an Award of Merit.

The goal of both publications was to advertise the College’s many services and opportunities in a memorable piece, says Mark Friebus, creative project coordinator and designer of the arts series booklet and College at a Glance.

“College at a Glance is specifically used by staff who visit surrounding high schools and who needed one all-inclusive, portable piece for prospective students to carry with them,’ he said. “The feedback on this piece has been overwhelmingly positive, with several reorders of the publication in a short time.”

The Arts at Pellissippi State booklet, which also recently won a Tennessee College Public Relations Association award, conveys information on upcoming arts-related events in a design that is, itself, artistically beautiful.

The Backstage Pass video was created as a digital invitation to a fundraising event for The Arts at Pellissippi State. It’s viewable on Pellissippi State’s YouTube channel.

“In order to convey the feeling that the viewer actually is stepping ‘backstage’ at an arts event,” said Jessie Tipton, visual media coordinator and creator of the video, “the video was filmed in a single take.”

With a membership of more than 21,000 public relations and communications professionals, the Public Relations Society of America is the world’s largest organization of PR professionals.
