Construction of a new science and math building

Estimated Need: $2.7 million

With approximately 6,200 students, Pellissippi State’s Hardin Valley Campus has the largest enrollment of the College’s five campuses. Yet, for more than a decade, there have been no new buildings or major renovations on the campus. Consequently, there is a tremendous lack of space for laboratories, classrooms and faculty offices. In fact, portable buildings now house many classrooms and offices, and students who need certain courses to complete their degree —such as science classes with labs—are often out of luck for the semester because classes are at capacity.

The solution is simple: Pellissippi State must construct a new building to house additional science and math laboratories and classrooms, as well as faculty office space. The planned 82,000 square-foot facility will not only consolidate those disciplines into one location, but will allow the College to offer additional courses in science and math, paving the way for more students to realize their dreams of employment in STEM fields.

Even though we need your support to raise $2.7 million for the building, the actual cost is much, much more. Tennessee’s community colleges are required to provide a 10 percent match for all state building projects. The total project cost for the construction of the new math and science building is $27 million. Your investment will leverage $24.3 million in state capital building funds, which will be invested directly in our community.
