Pellissippi State Foundation’s Artique 2004 proves to be an elegant event

Knox County Chief of Staff Mike Arms, Mayor Mike Ragsdale and auctioneer William “Bear” Stephenson share a lighter moment during Artique 2004.The Knoxville Marriott provided a splendid setting for Artique 2004 on Saturday, May 15. The fundraising event for the Pellissippi State Foundation was hosted by Knox County Mayor Mike Ragsdale and his wife, Claudia, along with Dr. Allen Edwards, president of Pellissippi State Technical Community College, and his wife, Dr. Sue Bunney.

Over 400 guests were welcomed to the gala dinner and auction, which featured original artwork in various media by premier artists of the region. In addition, Peggy Lambert, a local antique dealer, offered an eclectic mix of international antiques from her collection. Guests were given the opportunity to bid on the art and antiques through a silent and a live auction.

William “Bear” Stephenson of Stephenson Realty and Auction served as auctioneer, and Rick Bennett from Bennett Galleries Company was the commentator for the evening.

The banquet hall was elegantly designed by Jim Harness of The Interior Market, Inc. A lovely arrangement of purple irises and pink tulips amidst a bed of moss adorned the table. The stage and runway sported magnificent spring baskets of pink azaleas, white and yellow chrysanthemums, ferns and an arrangement of purple irises.

Student Stephanie Allen shows guests a ceramic piece entitled Joining the hosts for the evening festivities were Keith and Peggy McCord, Ben and Sue Atchley and their daughter, Cindy Atchley, Joel and Sandy Garber, Jim Harness, Rick Kennedy, Mike and Kim Arms, Jim and Debra London, Frank and Belinda Gambuzza, Alex Fischer, H. E. and Barbara Bittle, Lorenzo and Henrietta Grant, Rick and Jeanne Bennett, Alan Carmichael, Bear Stephenson and Lisa Galyon, Mary Lou Horner, Walter and Dorene Himsl, Allen and Rose Cox, Nick and Rebecca Cazana, Steven and Kristi Maddox, Mike and Carolyn Carrier, Victor Jernigan, Pete and Linda Claussen, John and Diane Jordan, John and Sally Fisher, Jerry and Robin Askew, Bob and Margie Parrott, Mike and Dalita Cohen, Jane and Jeff Hooper, Dan Chips and Pamela Rayburn, Ely and Phyllis Driver, Bill and Ginny Morrow, Mark and Jocelyn Brodd, Diana Morgan, Lee and Susan Hyde, and Bill and Patti Connelly of Nashville.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Pellissippi State Foundation’s Greatest Need Fund and Nursing Program Fund.
