April 24, 2007 Pellissippi State now offering business associate’s degree in 16 monthsDo you want to get ahead but have limited time? Through the new AHEAD—Accelerated Higher Education Associate’s Degree—program at Pellissippi State Technical Community College, you can now attend night classes and earn an associate’s degree in Business Administration in only 16 months.“Most of our AHEAD courses run for five weeks, with a mixture of classroom and online/videotaped instruction to ensure the same high-quality education that is Pellissippi State’s tradition,” said Cynthia Dempster, associate professor and department head of Business and Computer Technology. The program, says Dempster, is geared toward working adults who are both self-disciplined and motivated. “With AHEAD, you can continue your daytime responsibilities, because classes are scheduled two nights a week.” Earning a degree in business through night classes would normally take four or five years, and the faster pace of the AHEAD program is a challenge. But the challenge is worth the reward: those who begin in August 2007 will have their degree by December 2008. Another plus, students who start the program will stay with the same group until graduation. They will have many of the same classes, taught by instructors who are dedicated to teaching the AHEAD coursework. Students who complete the program will finish with an Associate of Applied Science degree and a major in Business Administration, with a concentration in Hospitality, Management or Marketing. Interested applicants should have completed any required refresher courses before applying for the AHEAD program. For more information, call (865) 539-7155 or e-mail admissions@pstcc.edu.
