Nov. 2, 2007 Blount campus seeks donations for annual Pellissippi State book sale Pellissippi State Technical Community College’s Blount County Center has begun its quest for donations of new and gently used books for the annual Faculty Senate Book Sale in the spring. And, according to Brenda Ammons, an associate professor of math and the book sale coordinator, more than just books will be accepted. “We’ll also take music and movies on CD, DVD and videotape, as well as puzzles and computer games,” she said. Even vinyl records can be donated, along with general interest magazines suitable for children and families (no tabloids or sensational materials, please). The book sale planners also welcome computer manuals published less than five years ago and complete sets of encyclopedias. “The community has been very generous in the past with donations,” said Ammons, “and we hope people will once again clean out their closets and scour their bookshelves and media rooms for items they no longer want or need.” The college cannot accept books that have been stored in damp areas or that are infested with bugs, water damaged or covered with dirt or mold. Proceeds from the sale will go to the Pellissippi State Foundation for student scholarships. For additional information or to make arrangements for book pickup, contact Ammons at (865) 981-5340.
