May 18, 2007 Pellissippi State hosts Dickman, Mutchler at photojournalism presentationThe weeklong Digital Photojournalism Workshop at Pellissippi State Technical Community College culminates Saturday, May 19, with a presentation and exhibit by Jay Dickman, a Pulitzer Prize¬-winning photographer and regular contributor to National Geographic magazine, and Kurt Mutchler, picture editor at National Geographic.The activities, all of which take place on the Pellissippi Campus on Hardin Valley Road, will also include a panel discussion by photography experts and a reception and student exhibit. The workshop, which began May 14 and ends Saturday, is taught by Dickman; Mutchler; Jay Kinghorn, an Adobe Photoshop certified expert; and KD Lawson, Photography coordinator at Pellissippi State. The presentation and exhibit by Dickman and Mutchler begin at 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. The topic is “An Inside Look Into Photography and Storytelling for National Geographic Magazine.” The panel discussion is at 3 p.m. in the Goins Auditorium and, among other topics, includes the impact of technology on photography. The reception and student show take place at 5:30 p.m. in the Goins Rotunda. All activities, as well as parking, are free, and the public is encouraged to attend.
