April 20, 2007 First Tennessee executive to address Pellissippi State graduatesPam Fansler, president of First Tennessee Bank, Knoxville, is the guest speaker at this year’s Pellissippi State Technical Community College’s commencement.The ceremony is Friday, May 4, 7 p.m. at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum, and more than 300 students are set to receive their associate’s degree. Fansler is involved in Pellissippi State’s major gifts campaign, Connecting Communities, Changing Lives. The campaign’s public kickoff was April 17 and included a brief program and an outdoor luncheon at the Pellissippi Campus on Hardin Valley Road. The goal of the campaign is $6 million, and $4.2 million of that has already been raised. Fansler began her banking career at Valley Fidelity Bank and Trust Company in 1976 in the branch system, continuing with the bank when it was acquired by First Tennessee in 1991. At First Tennessee, she has had a variety of responsibilities, including commercial banking and real estate, corporate banking, cash management, private client services and small business. She has long been active in the community and is currently chair of the Knoxville Area Chamber Partnership. Fansler is also on the boards of Covenant Health, the Fort Sanders Foundation, the Knoxville Symphony, the East Tennessee Economic Development Agency and Leadership Knoxville. In addition, she is on the management committee of Jobs NOW and the nominating committee for the Girl Scouts of Tanasi Council and is a member of the Executive Women’s Association, the Alcoa Community Forum and the University of Tennessee’s Chancellor’s Associates. Pellissippi State, which started in 1974 as State Technical Institute at Knoxville, has more than 8,000 credit students on four campuses.
