February 26, 2007 Opportunity to study in Mexico available for MayThe Tennessee Consortium for International Studies is offering students the opportunity to earn college credit in Spanish while spending three weeks in Mexico. The study abroad program will take students to Mexico City and Morelia, Mexico May 7-27, 2007, for a total immersion into the language and culture of the people.Students wishing to participate must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. They should also have a strong desire to learn the Spanish language and to experience contemporary and historic Mexico. Participants will receive 50 hours of instruction in Spanish from elementary through advanced levels. Though, learning will also come from cultural and professional excursions and from living with a host family. The cost of the program is $1,730, which includes tuition, airfare from Tennessee to Mexico City, full room and board, and transportation on excursions. The Tennessee Consortium for International Studies represents colleges, universities and other organizations devoted to making international education and cultural understanding a central goal of higher education throughout Tennessee. Currently, the consortium consists of the 19 colleges and universities in the Tennessee Board of Regents system. The deadline for registration is March 5.
