Feb. 21, 2007 Pellissippi State hosts symposium on staying competitive globally“Stay Competitive in a Global Market” by attending a symposium at Pellissippi State Technical Community March 8, 8 a.m.4 p.m.The symposium is designed for business owners, decision makers, plant managers and others who want to learn about the many resources available to compete in the global economy, maintain jobs and expand business. March 1 is the deadline to register. The event is sponsored by the Knoxville Area Chamber Partnership, the Blount County Chamber of Commerce, The Transition Team and the Design Management Alliance. The Transition Team is an international network of offices providing career transition services, and the Design Management Alliance is a full-service, performance-based consulting firm. The keynote speaker is Matt Murray, associate director of the Center for Business and Economic Research at the University of Tennessee. He will share his 10-year projections for manufacturing in the U.S. The luncheon speaker is Matt Kisber, commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development. Kisber will discuss doing business in Tennessee and the current economic climate. Cost is $130 per person and $95 for Chamber members. The fee includes lunch and refreshments. Registration is 8-8:30 a.m. Following the morning session with Murray, representatives of three Knoxville area companies will share their success stories.
