Arts and crafts vendors invited to set up at Pellissippi State balloon festival

Pellissippi State Technical Community College is seeking talented artisans and craftspersons to participate in the college’s fifth annual hot air balloon festival Sept. 26-27 at the Pellissippi Campus on Hardin Valley Road.

The family-oriented festival has openings for 15 more vendors, says Pat Myers, director of alumni relations and Foundation events and coordinator of the popular event. The work can be either traditional or contemporary and use wood, metal, leather, ceramic, fabric, paper, canvas and/or photography.

“No commercially manufactured items are accepted,” said Myers. “Craft artists are welcome to demonstrate their skills and interact with festival-goers.

“We like to feature high-quality, affordable work of local artisans whose talent continues the legacy of the arts and crafts industry that is such an important part of the history of East Tennessee.”

Hours for the festival this year are 4-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Booths are required to remain open during the full hours of operation each day. Vendors must provide their own tent, tables and chairs.

Fees are $125 for a single 12’ x 12’ space and $225 for a double booth (two 12’x12’ spaces). Each space comes with one 110V outlet. 

The Pellissippi State Hot Air Balloon Festival is a rain-or-shine event, Myers reminds, so there will be no rain date or refunds because of rain or other weather-related causes of cancellation. Ample free parking is available for vendors.
