Feb. 8, 2008 Pellissippi State accepting donations for annual Book Sale Pellissippi State Technical Community College is now accepting new and gently used books and other items for its annual Faculty Senate Book Sale, set for March 25-26. The event will take place at all four sites: the Pellissippi Campus, Blount County Center, Magnolia Avenue Campus and Division Street Campus. “Beyond books, we will take music and movies on CD, DVD and videotape, as well as puzzles and computer games,” said Vida Hashemian, book sale coordinator and associate professor of Communication Graphics Technology. Even vinyl records can be donated, she says, along with general interest magazines suitable for children and families (no tabloids or sensational materials, please). “The community has been very generous in the past with donations,” said Hashemian, “so we hope people will clean out their closets and scour their bookshelves and media rooms for items they no longer want or need.” Hashemian recommends that donors not bring computer manuals more than five years old or encyclopedias that are not part of a complete set. The college also is unable to accept books that have been stored in damp areas and books that are infested with bugs, water damaged or covered with dirt or mold. Proceeds from the sale will go to the Pellissippi State Foundation for student scholarships. Drop-off points include the McWherter, Alexander, and Bagwell buildings on the Pellissippi Campus, 10915 Hardin Valley Road. For additional information or to make arrangements for book pickup, contact Hashemian at (865) 539-7261.
