Meet the Pros: Photographers Dickman and Kinghorn to speak at Pellissippi State
Internationally known photographers Jay Dickman and Jay Kinghorn will take their audience behind the camera lens during a joint presentation called “Meet the Pros” Wednesday, March 26, at Pellissippi State Technical Community College.
The presentation is set for 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center of the Pellissippi Campus on Hardin Valley Road. The evening also will include the dedication of the new KD Lawson Photography Studio and a pre-event reception.
Meet the Pros is sponsored by Pellissippi State and Olympus.
The speakers will discuss the inspirations behind their cutting-edge digital photography, share lessons learned along the way and demonstrate tools of their trade.
Attendees will have an opportunity to meet Dickman, a Pulitzer Prize–winning photographer whose work has appeared frequently in National Geographic magazine, and Kinghorn, an expert in the use of Photoshop computer software, immediately after the presentation.
The photographers will conduct a poster-signing session, and a drawing for an Olympus E-510 digital SLR camera will follow.
Prior to the presentation, at 5:30 p.m., Pellissippi State will dedicate the new KD Lawson Photography Studio in the Bagwell Center for Media and Art. Jewelry Television donated money to the Pellissippi State Foundation in honor of Lawson.
The studio is named for the longtime head of Photography at Pellissippi State, who died unexpectedly Nov. 11. Lawson designed the photography studio for Jewelry Television, and the Pellissippi State studio will be modeled after that setup.

A pre-event reception, including some of Dickman, Kinghorn and Lawson’s most noted work, is scheduled 6-6:45 p.m. in the gallery of the Bagwell Center. The instructional facility opened its doors for classes fall semester.
