Home Inspection Licensing course at Pellissippi State begins March 24

Since July 2006, state regulations have required all home inspectors to be licensed. Whether you are already in the business or just starting out, Pellissippi State Technical Community College has a course to help you prepare for the licensing exam.

The college’s Business and Community Services Division is offering the next Home Inspection Licensing course beginning March 24.

During the 90 hours of training, you’ll gain the knowledge and skills needed to perform home inspections and prepare for the state exam.

Upon successfully passing the test and obtaining your license, you will be qualified to operate your own state-licensed home inspection business or to upgrade your current business.

Home Inspection Licensing is set up to allow participants to complete the entire class while missing only one week of work. The class times and dates are as follows:

• Attend class Monday-Sunday, March 24-30, 8 a.m.-6:30 p.m.
• Return to work Monday-Friday, March 31-April 4.
• Complete the class Friday, April 4, 6-10 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday,

April 5 and 6, 8 a.m.-6:30 p.m.

The course fee is $2,095. Register by March 3 and save $100.

Course highlights will include tools, techniques, systems and fundamentals for roofs, exteriors and foundations; structural problems; case studies and liability management; report writing; communications; and business startup.

Participants also will have an opportunity to interact with graduates of the Home Inspection Institute, make up to seven on-site home inspections and take a mock state examination to help them prepare for the actual test.

The course is at the Pellissippi Campus on Hardin Valley Road. The fee includes all materials, and the instructor is Tony J. Brueneman, president of the Home Inspection Institute.
