Edison Electric Institute test preparation course
offered
An Edison Electric Institute test preparation course will be given
at Pellissippi State beginning January 31.
The course will provide the skills necessary to pass institute
tests that utilities such as the Tennessee Valley Authority use
in hiring for power plant operations and maintenance training
programs.
The 32-hour test preparation course will include refresher training
in math, graphs and charts, mechanical concepts, spatial ability
and reading comprehension. Test-taking skills also will be covered.
After successfully completing the course, eligible students will
take the Institute test.
The course is Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 6-8 p.m., January
31-March 23. The cost is $175, and some home study will be required.
To be accepted into the course, registrants must have met one
of the following educational criteria:
- Earned at least 43 semester credit hours toward an Associate
of Applied Science degree in mechanical engineering technology,
electrical engineering technology, electronics or industrial maintenance,
or completed an Associate of Applied Science degree in one of
those fields.
- Completed a certified union apprenticeship.
- Completed the Navy Nuclear Power Program.
Other technical criteria might apply.
The course is limited to 25 applicants. A resume, college transcript
and other supporting documentation, if applicable, should be sent
or brought to Business and Community Services, 108 Alexander,
no later than January 10. Those who are accepted into the course
will be notified by January 27.
