Inside Pellissippi

Student-created creatures featured in exhibition

Visitors to the World Grotto and Gallery on Knoxville’s Market Square January 4 may have thought they were being invaded by alien creatures. In reality, though, the strange creatures on display were sculptures designed by Pellissippi State students in Michael Joyce’s Art 1031 class, Three-Dimensional Media. The exhibition, appropriately titled “From the Muck,” featured pieces of art made with spray insulation foam covering an armature of wood, paper and wire.

“It’s nice to know that our art students are getting some well-deserved exposure in the community,” said Anne Kinggard, program coordinator of Art and Theatre. “I’m extremely proud of their work.”
