Joan Davis vies for national teaching awardJoan Davis, associate professor of Computer Integrated Drafting and Design, has been named Technical Teacher of the Year for 2003 by the American Technical Education Association (ATEA) Mississippi River and Gulf Region.She will now be considered by the national association for National Technical Teacher of the Year for 2004. The winner will be announced at the national conference, which takes place April 14-17 in Nashville. “Joan Davis was selected from applicants from seven different states, so this is quite a significant award,” said Mike Hudson, director of Certificate Programs/Work Keys/Business and Professional Programs. Hudson chaired the four-member regional awards committee. “It's also pretty impressive that three judges from around the region all came up with the same person.” The committee chair votes only in the event of a tie.
ATEA is an international organization that promotes the value of a technical education at the college level.
