Pellissippi State named one of fastest-growing colleges

Pellissippi State has been named one of the 200 fastest-growing community colleges in the nation, according to Community College Week, an independent news publication for educators. (more)



Underground Railroad expert to speak at Pellissippi State

“Grassroots.” It’s a term used today, frequently by politicians, to refer to a groundswell of opinion or activity that emerges from the community.


The word is thought to have originated in 1912, when it was used to describe the Progressive Party, which swept Teddy Roosevelt into the presidency that year. The party “came from the grass roots and grew from the soil of people’s hard necessities,” according to one of its founders. (more)



Foundation completes Department of Education Challenge Grant

The Pellissippi State Foundation has completed a dollar-for-dollar Challenge Grant from the U.S. Department of Education to benefit students at Pellissippi State.

Employees, students brave cold to walk in MLK parade

Thirteen Pellissippi State faculty, staff and students turned out in freezing temperatures January 21 to participate in the annual parade commemorating the legacy of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. The parade route ran along Martin Luther King Drive. (more)
