Einstein comes alive on stage“Heartland Series” host Bill Landry will perform “Einstein the Man,” a one-man play he wrote about the famous physicist, at Pellissippi State on Saturday, March 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. The performance follows an afternoon show for attendees of the Future Teachers Conference, also to be held here. When performing the play, Landry, a well-respected producer, actor, and director, adopts the words and mannerisms of Albert Einstein as he was at the age of 65. He portrays Einstein as a humanist and a person. The production features some of Einstein's major scientific and philosophical ideas in the form of a biographical study. Landry first performed “Einstein the Man” in 1977 at the American Museum of Science and Energy—then known as the American Museum of Atomic Energy—in Oak Ridge. The play has been adopted for National Public Radio and Public Broadcasting System stations. Landry has given more than 850 performances of “Einstein the Man” to more than 500,000 people in 38 states and Canada. His performance locations have included the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, Purdue University, the Maryland Academy of Sciences in Baltimore, and Edison Community College in Ft. Myers, Florida.
Tickets for the performance can be purchased at the door or by calling the Foundation at 694-6528. Tickets are $10 for the general public and $5 for all students and Pellissippi State alumni. All proceeds benefit the Foundation's Greatest Need Fund.
