Pellissippi State hosts event planning seminar February 15
Event planners and organizers can learn better ways to promote themselves and their events at a seminar at Pellissippi State February 15.
The Pellissippi State student chapter of the American Marketing Association will sponsor the 90-minute seminar in the Goins Auditorium on the main Pellissippi campus. The seminar is part of the chapter's "Future of Marketing" series.
Four speakers will share their experiences in promoting entertainment events, conferences and event venues. Dorothy Smith, president of Smith Marketing, will describe how her firm promotes family-oriented events such as "Disney on Ice," and Jennifer Whitson, marketing director of AC Entertainment, will talk about how entertainment events such as Sundown in the City are planned and executed.
Kathy Metts, owner of Impact Associates, will explain how international conferences are planned, managed and executed. Susan Eaton, assistant general manager of the Knoxville Convention Center, will describe the kind of support that the convention center can provide for companies and organizations that sponsor events.
The seminar, scheduled 2-3:30 p.m., is open to the public.
