Blount
County Center will host the Maryville Branch of the American
Association of University Women’s monthly meeting
and a special presentation in celebration of women’s
accomplishments March 13, 7 p.m., in the Student Lounge.

Avenue hosts ‘A Woman Called Truth’
Sandra
Fenichel Asher’s play “A Woman Called Truth”
will be performed today at Magnolia Avenue Campus as part
of the College’s celebration of Women’s History
Month. The 11:45 a.m. performance will be in the Community

honors music recital is
March 15
Pellissippi
State Music students will perform in the annual Student
Honors Recital March 15 at 8 p.m., and the public is invited

awards scholarships to ‘The Line’ film festival
winners
The College
recently presented scholarships to a five-member Central
High School team that took “Best of the Fest”
in “The Line” Student Audio Visual Festival

students host seminar on business etiquette
The student
chapter of the American Marketing Association at Pellissippi
State will host a seminar on business etiquette March 15,

Faculty
Senate book sale set for mid-March
The annual
book sale hosted by the Faculty Senate is scheduled for
mid-March, and thousands of books priced from 50 cents to
$3 will be available. (more)
Throughout 2007 “Inside Pellissippi” will
focus on success stories of faculty or staff members
who have been involved in initiatives to help students.
Of those stories, many will focus on Foundations of
Excellence in the First College Year, which is an
effort specifically aimed at helping first-year students
succeed. Others will focus on student success stories
from various employees who work with students.
FOE
project lends a hand to undecided majors
Three FOE
student success coordinators began a pilot project
fall 2006 that continues to be used. The project helps
students who haven’t decided on a major to become
acquainted with services the College offers to assist
them in their choice. (more)

Geographic photographer head instructor for digital photography
workshop
Pulitzer
Prize-winning photographer Jay Dickman is the lead instructor
for a digital photography workshop May 14-19 on the Pellissippi
Campus. (more)
College
hosts open house for home-schooled students
The College
is sponsoring its fourth annual open house for home-schooled
students and their parents March 13. (more)
Mary Bledsoe, director of Student Life and Recreation, and
Denise Penzkofer, associate professor of Physical Education,
are part of a “Dream Team” of volunteers. The
two are heading up Pellissippi State’s efforts to
pull together volunteers for the 2007 Amateur Athletic Union
Junior Olympic Games. The games, which take place July 25-August
4 at the University of Tennessee, bring more than 35,000
athletes, coaches, family members and spectators to Knoxville.
At a January 30 press conference (pictured left to right),
UT Lady Vols coach Pat Summitt, Knox County Mayor Mike Ragsdale,
UT men’s basketball coach Bruce Pearl, Knoxville Mayor
Bill Haslam and others kicked off the campaign to organize
volunteers for the event. Bledsoe is pictured directly behind
Mayor Haslam.
