Ivie’s
article advocates journaling
Doris
Ivie, a professor in Natural and Behavioral Sciences,
has written an article that is published in the February/March
2004 edition of the magazine Bountiful Health, Discovering
the Joy of Living Well. The article, “Write for
Your Life,” advocates the healing power of journaling.
Ivie, who has been journaling since she was 14, writes
about the benefits she has received from putting down
her thoughts in journals. (more)
CGT
students hold annual design showcase
Students
in the Communications Graphics Technology (CGT) program
will exhibit some of their best work April 29 in the Goins
Student Lounge. The annual exhibit and professional critique
of student portfolios is 4-8:30 p.m. and is free and open
to all.
The CGT curriculum prepares students for a wide range
of jobs in advertising, publishing, computer illustration,
Web design and many other forms of media. (more)

executive leads lottery scholarship information night
Michael
Roberts, executive director of Tennessee Student Assistance
Corporation, will lead an information session on the lottery
scholarship March 30 6-7 p.m. High school seniors, their
parents and anyone else interested in learning more about
the scholarship is invited to attend. (more)
Pellissippi
State German students to study abroad
Two
Pellissippi State students soon will be putting their
foreign language skills to work—literally. Amanda
Baggett and Jill Baker Ladaa, both second-semester German
students here, have each been honored with fellowships
to work and study in Germany this summer. (more)
Heart
of Knoxville plans two employment festivals
The
Heart of Knoxville Career and Resource Center will hold
its Spring Career Expo April 14 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The career
fair is for people seeking full-time and part-time jobs
in administration, customer service, health care, construction
trades and business technology. (more)

Easterly
gives presentation at foreign languages conference
Joan
Easterly, professor in Liberal Arts who teaches French
and film studies, will present at the Central States Conference
on the Teaching of Foreign Languages in Dearborn, Michigan,
on April 3. Easterly’s presentation is titled “So
How Was the Movie? Cinema for French Conversation.”

Health Check returns to Pellissippi State
Free
health screenings and health and wellness information!
Inexpensive blood chemistry tests! Numerous health professionals
to answer your health questions! All this and more is
available at the 2004 Covenant Health Check on April 7.
Booths will be set up in the Goins Student Lounge from
8:30 a.m.-noon. The event, which is free and open to all,
is sponsored by Covenant Health, Cariten Healthcare, WBIR-TV
and the Knoxville News Sentinel.
