Catch a rising country star April 19
You’ve
seen him on “Sex in the City” and in “My Big
Fat Greek Wedding,” and soon you can see John Corbett in
concert at Pellissippi State.
Corbett, who was nominated for a Golden Globe Award as Aidan Shaw
in TV’s “Sex in the City,” is now a country
singer who’s recorded his first album.
Corbett’s group, The John Corbett Band, will be in concert
at the Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. on April 19.
The event is sponsored by the Pellissippi State Foundation and
WIVK radio, and tickets are on sale for $10 each. They can be
purchased at the Foundation office in Room 255 in the Goins Building.
They can also be purchased with a credit card by calling the Foundation
at 694-6528.
Another role Corbett made famous was that of Chris in the Morning,
a radio DJ in Cicely, Alaska, on the TV series “Northern
Exposure.”
“John Corbett is a new voice on the country music scene,
and we wanted to showcase his music,” said Mike Hammond,
program director of WIVK. “He was happy to honor our request
to do this concert as a fundraiser for the Pellissippi State Foundation.”
WIVK’s sponsorship of Corbett’s concert is part of
the station’s ongoing support of the College. WIVK has taken
part in the Pellissippi State Hot Air Balloon Festival and sponsors
a scholarship.
Peggy Wilson, vice president of College Advancement and executive
director of the Pellissippi State Foundation, describes the Foundation
as “a resource for those who value learning and what it
can do to help our local communities.
“Concerts like this are important to help us achieve our
goals.”
“This will be a fun event, and we want people to come out
and have a good time while knowing their money is going to a good
cause,” said Pat Myers, director of alumni relations and
foundation events.
