English, reading awards to be presented April 13 at Pellissippi State

About 20 Pellissippi State students will receive special recognition this week for their achievements in developmental English and reading courses.

The College will salute the students April 13 at noon in the Goins Student Lounge. This will be the College's second annual spring awards presentation for the Developmental Studies Program.

Among the top awards to be presented: outstanding English and reading projects, best essays, most improved students, and "Profiles in Courage and Inspiration," which recognize individuals who have dealt with or are coping with physical, financial or personal obstacles or other issues in order to attend college.

More than 500 students are enrolled in developmental English and reading classes throughout the community college's four campuses.
