Pellissippi State spring choral concert set for April 26

Pellissippi State will present its Spring Choral Concert April 26 at 8 p.m.

Two singing groups, the Concert Chorale and the Variations Ensemble, will present traditional choral music from a variety of artistic periods and will conclude with selections from the popular Broadway musical "Les Miserables."

The Variations Ensemble will perform the "Kyrie" and the "Benedictus" from "Missa Sancti Nicolai" by Franz Joseph Haydn, along with two American folk songs arranged by contemporary English composer-conductor John Rutter.

The Concert Chorale's selections will include a contemporary number, "Who Knows Where the Wind Blows?" in which singers will imitate the sound of the wind.

In all, more than 60 of Pellissippi State's top students will be involved, according to Bill Brewer, choral director, and the selections will feature 10 soloists from the groups.

The concert will take place in the Performing Arts Center and is open to the public at no charge. Donations for the College's Music Scholarship fund will be accepted at the door. For additional information, contact Bill Brewer at 694-6701 or lwbrewer@pstcc.edu.
